Exquisite
land scaped gardens are stretched at various places in
Jaipur. Some of these gardens which were laid down during
the time of maharajas have been renovated. Fountains,
watercourses, painted pavilions add to their beauty. The
garden at the foothills of Nahargarh and located in the city
is very beautiful and a good picnic spot.
Like palaces and forts some gardens at Jaipur bear a strong
resemblance with those laid down by mughal emperors. The
stepped gardens of Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh resemble mughal
gardens in many ways. The garden is considered to be a
symbol of love as the Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh made it for
his queen.
A lush spacious garden with a zoo, an aviary, a greenhouse,
a herbarium , a museum and popular sport ground called Ram
Niwas Bagh constitutes the zoological garden of Jaipur. The
garden houses many animals and birds.
Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh
Built by Raja Sawai Jai Singh, the founder of Jaipur, in
1728, Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh was built as a gift by the royal
groom to his Sisodia Queen from Udaipur. Depicting the theme
based on the legends of eternal lovers - Lord Krishna and
his soul beloved Radha, the garden is laid in Mughal style,
8 km from Jaipur on the way to Agra. The gardens appeal to
the aesthetic and visual tastes of the onlooker with its
multi-tiered gardens, most elegant and graceful fountains
and watercourses, painted pavilions and galleries and most
exotic murals of Lord Krishna in all sorts of poses taken
from his lifetime.
Vidyadhar Gardens
A beautiful vineyard situated very near the famous Sisodia
Gardens of Jaipur, Vidyadhar Gardens is perhaps the
best-preserved garden of Jaipur. Named after Vidyadhar
Bhatacharjee, the celebrated architect and town planner of
Jaipur, it is tastefully situated in a narrow valley, thus,
offering it the advantage of being surrounded by lush green
mountains that provide some of the most exotic views of the
region and are certainly a credit to the eyes of the
beholder.
