Day 01
Arrive Mumbai
Arrive in Mumbai, the Commercial capital of India. After
completing formalities with customs and immigration, you
will be received by our representative with Traditional
Indian Welcome (with garlands).
Mumbai is the capital of Maharastra State and the
gateway to this beguiling subcontinent. Of the four
great cities in India, Mumbai is the most cosmopolitan,
spear heading India's move in to the 21st Century.
Afterwards transfer to your hotel for the overnight
stay.
Day 02
In
Mumbai
After breakfast you embark on the sightseeing trip of
World famous Elephanta Caves and Mumbai city.
Elephanta Caves: A must for any visitor to India.
Mute testimony of the Golden Age in Indian history
during the Gupta period and built to honour Lord Shiva.
Elephanta is a 3 kms long elongated island, consisting
of two hills separated by a valley. The caves with
rock-cut figures and carvings are believed to be carved
by the sculptors of Ajanta or Udayagiri. In the
afternoon the guest enjoy the sightseeing tour of the
Mumbai City:
Mumbai City : includes a visit the Gateway of
India-erected to commemorate the landing of King George
V and Queen Mary in 1911; Prince of Wales Museum,
Jehangir Art Gallery, Marine Drive, Chowpatty beach,
Hanging Gardens and the Crawford Market.
After completing the sightseeing return back to the
Hotel for Overnight.
Day 03
Mumbai - Cochin (Flight)
Breakfast at hotel. Free till departure . Afternoon
assisted in your departure to the airport to connect
your flight for Cochin. Arrive at Kochi (Cochin) meet
and assistance at the airport by our representative and
transfer to your hotel.
Embark upon the half day sightseeing of the city of
Cochin
A few interesting sites included in the tour are the
Chinese fishing nets along the Vasco Da Gama Square,
Santa Cruz Basilica, St. Francis Church, VOC Gate,
Bastion Bungalow etc. The Chinese fishing nets erected
on teak wood and bamboo poles work on the principle of
balance. Records say they were first set up here between
AD 1350 and 1450. Vasco Da Gama Square, the narrow
promenade that parallels the beach, is the best place to
watch the nets being lowered and pulled out of the sea.
Enjoy SUNSET while on the boat. Over night stay at
Cochin.
Day 04
Cochin Munnar By Surface Approx (150 Kms 04 Hours)
After breakfast drive to Munnar by surface.
Munnar : Situated at an altitude of 1,524m and
set amid dramatic mountain scenery in what was once
known as the high range of travancore, the hill town of
munnar is the commercial centre of some of the worlds
highest tea growing estates. it has a cool bracing
climate exuding an old-world charm and the atmosphere is
fragrant with extensive tea and cardamom plantations.
the enchanting high ranges, craggy peaks, lakes and
streams and the crisp mountain air makes it an ideal
retreat. the highest peak of south india, anaimudi or
the elephant's head peak (2,695m) is only a short
distance from here and munnar serves as a good base for
treks to the peak. munnar offers good opportunities for
bird watchers as the green slopes of munnar and the
dense shola forests in the folds of the hills offer
varied, protected, habitats for feathered species.
On arrival check in to the Hotel. Afternoon : Visit Tea
Museum and Sanctuary .
Return to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05

Munnar
Breakfast at hotel.
This morning embark upon the sightseeing of the city
which would include the visit to :
The Kundale Tea Plantation: An area surrounding a
lovely lake that offers some of the most stunning views
of the region. If you arrive on a Sunday, make sure to
drop in at the small Kundale Club in the afternoon,
where the local planters gather with their family.
Eravikulam National Park: By driving north from
Munnar for 30 minutes and then hiking a few kilometers,
you reach this sanctuary which is home to three thousand
free-roaming ibex. Declared as a National Park in 1978
it covers 97 Km of rolling grass hills forested valleys.
The High Range Club: Charmingly colonial in
style, this wicker-and-old-teak club still serves as a
social centre for the far-flung farmers of the region
around Munnar. Housing an elegant lounge, a delightful
dining room, the obligatory gentlemen's bar, billiards
room and a library.
Top Station (32 Km/ 20 mile): 1700m above sea
level, this is the highest point on the
Munnar-Kodaikanal road. The rare Neelakurunji (Strobilanthus)
belongs to this region. This plant blooms every twelve
years bathing the hillsides in bright violet. Top
Station also offers a panoramic view of neighboring
Tamilnadu.
Return to the hotel after the sightseeing.
Overnight will be in Munnar.
Day 06
Munnar Thekkady By Road Approx ( 100 Kms 02 Hours)
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast this morning
drive to Thekkady.
Drive through the plantations and small Kerala villages.
The whole of Kerala including the towns are like
villages and the simplicity of the state can be felt
while driving. All around would be scenic beauty.
Reach Thekkady. (This place is also known as Periyar
because of the Lake Periyar)
Check in at the resort.
The river Periyar is the longest river in Kerala. This
is the only perennial river in South India with clean
water. The river occupies an important place in the
history of Kerala. In the Sangam age Tamil epics such as
Chilapathikaram, 'Akananuru', 'Purananuru' etc much has
been said about this mighty river, formerly known as the
'Choorni Nadi' or 'Thamraparni Nadi'.
In the evening visit Kumily market to buy the best
spices available. Overnight will be at Thekkady.
Overnight will be at Periyar.
Day 07
In
Thekkady
Breakfast will be at the resort.
Enjoy the boat ride through Periyar Lake - Wildlife
sanctuary. You can visit the rare species of plants and
animals.
Afternoon visit spice plantations like cardamom,
cinnamon, pepper, coffee, tea estates etc. You can in
the afternoon go for a short trek in the forests with a
trained guide for some adventure.
Overnight stay will be at Periyar.
Day 08
Periyar - Kumarakom By Road (Approx 130 Kms / 04 hours)
Early morning proceed to Kumarakom. This journey will
also be a beautiful one passing through rolling tea
gardens and rubber plantations. Stop at a tea factory
and watch the tea making process (interesting for
children and elders). There is a beautiful solitary
church you pass by and it is a nice place to stop for
photography.
Reach Kumarakom and visit the Bird Sanctuary. Proceed to
the Vembanand Lake.
The backwaters of Kerala are a unique product of Kerala
and are found nowhere else in the world. Backwaters are
a network of lakes, canals and estuaries and deltas of
forty-four rivers that drain into the Arabian Sea. The
backwaters of Kerala are a self supporting Eco-system
teeming with aquatic life. The canals connect the
villages together and are still used for local
transport. Over 900 km of this labyrinthine water world
is navigable.
Check into a traditional houseboat of Kerala Style and
go on a leisurely backwater cruise along the lake on a
thatched houseboat. The houseboat with all modern
comforts lets you discover the countryside at your own
pace. You will have lunch, dinner and breakfast in the
Houseboat. A ride on the houseboat is a fabulous way to
explore the fascinating beauty of the backwaters.
Cruise through the backwaters towards Alleppey. Lunch
will be served on the boat. The menu is simple and
traditional. The cook (chef) of the boat prepares the
lunch from fresh materials and even you can have a peek
at the recipe.
Tea and snacks would be served in the evening. The boat
will be anchored in the backwaters along a paddy field
and you can go for a stroll into the village or relax at
the deck of the boat.
Dinner will be on the boat. Overnight will be at
Houseboat.

Day 09
Alleppey Cochin By Surface Approx (70 Kms 02 Hours)
After breakfast this morning free till departure. Check
out of the houseboat and drive to Cochin. Upon arrival
check in to the hotel.
Rest of the day free at leisure.
Overnight will be in Cochin.
Day 10
Cochin - Mumbai (Flight)
Breakfast at hotel. Free till departure. Assisted in the
transfer to the airport to board the flight for Mumbai.
Upon arrival received at the airport and transferred to
the hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure.
Overnight will be in Mumbai.
Day 11
Mumbai - Overseas (Flight)
Breakfast at the hotel. Free till departure. Evening
assisted in the departure transfer to the airport to
board your flight back home. |
